Mike Ryan first set-up a site with the domain low emission cars in 2006, as the clamour for more environmentally-friendly cars began to be heard around the globe. He was particularly inspired by reading an article about the development of a dream sports car in the US which would be powered by electricity. The building of such a car had been tried before by interests within the major car manufacturers, and the idea killed-off by them. This car was to be produced by an ‘independent’ and new small manufacturer, backed by a successful entrepreneur from the Silicon Valley in the US. In the years since, the Tesla Roadster has been born, and is a fine production car with a worldwide reputation.

During this time, the development of the green technologies for application by car manufacturers has blossomed, and there are now in production, and for sale, many car models contributing to the ongoing drive to reduce carbon emissions considered so detrimental to the earth’s climate.
